by Robin Thicke: Sometimes I hear songs and feel like I have to share them with the world. Lately, I’ve been sharing via Twitter since the distribution channel is so easy to use. However, I feel inspired to write since I’m going to Blog World on Thursday and this is one of the best songs I’ve heard in a few weeks. I was questioning the other day where Robin Thicke has been when I dug up The Evolution of Robin Thicke out of my cd collection. When I received this track this am, there is no question as to where Robin has been. He has been in the studio laying it down! My first response when I heard this track was “Whew! This new track by Robin Thicke – “Sex Therapy” – bout to get some folks in trouble! Song is the truth.“ I don’t know what he is saying in some of the lyrics, and I don’t even need to know! I understand the parts that I need to know! I love this song and I love when his voice goes into the higher octave. The song is all around sexy and guaranteed to be a hit. I’m saying it here first! Maxwell, Ne-Yo and all the others better watch out!

by Ne-Yo: People always make comments that Ne-Yo would be non existent if it wasn’t for Michael Jackson because he is forever sampling M.J.’s hits. Today I will agree! I came across this song and I thought Ne-Yo was about to re-make Lady in My Life since he opens this track with these words. However, he continues to add new words to create a different song. The melody of this track is really calming and nice; it kind of reminds me of Flaws and All by Beyonce, which is one of my top fave songs (I will probably make a post about that song soon)! The words in this track are ok but it seems like something is missing. I really like Ne-Yo as an artist, song-writer and producer, but this song just does not do anything for me. I hope this is only a track that has leaked and Ne-Yo has no intention of putting it on his next album!

Ne-Yo ft. Fabolous: I have been jamming to two new songs ALL day, and this is one of them. This is that hotness! I’m always interested as to why artists release songs after their album debuts. I am referring to Year of the Gentleman and maybe this did not make the cut, or maybe Ne-Yo and Fabolous recently recorded the track. Whichever the reason, the track definitely puts Fabolous back on the radar which is good since he has a new album releasing in February 2009. Loso’s Way, based on Carlito’s Way, is Fabolous’ fifth studio album and will follow the format of Jay Z’s American Gangster. There are supposed to be a couple top notch featured guests on the album like Kanye and Ne-Yo….that’s about it. Everybody else I have never heard of and need to look up i.e. Red Café, Asia Cruise, Freck Billionare, and Paul Cain.

Although Ne-Yo comes through on the slow jamz, mostly relationship inspired, I can admit I expected more. From his interview on the radio a few weeks ago when he stated his album would have a mix of different genres, I thought these would be some off the wall sounds. NOT! Year of the Gentleman is filled with predictable Ne-Yo tracks. Don’t get me wrong – this album is good! My only requests are 1. the track She Got Her Own (Miss Independent Remix) I posted a few days ago be on the original album and not a UK iTunes pre-order and 2. the album be longer. Twelve tracks is whack! Especially when I heard 5 before I received the album. Other than that, the tracks are catchy, smooth ballads that will be played and repeated by many. My fave tracks would be So You Can Cry and Part of the List.

This is the official remix and I can not wait until I listen to this album! I received a copy of Year of the Gentleman a few days ago but I have not had time to really listen like I want to. I have been waiting on this one for a while and I am sure you have also! Soon as I jam to every track I will be sure to give my two cents that will inform you to ‘cop this album’.

This morning instead of finding a few songs on my iPod to listen to on my 13 minute ride to work, I decided to tune in to the radio. I’m SO happy I did. There was this new song playing that I assumed to be Ne-Yo. He returned on air after the song ended to discuss The Year of the Gentleman, his album that will be released on September 16th. This song has Michael Jackson written all over it, which is no surprise since MJ is Ne-Yo’s main inspiration and has been sampled by Ne-Yo numerous times. This track is about to be my new JAM!
