New Acquires

I have been getting the urge to blog a lot lately. I haven’t been focused on listening to new music like I used to so I felt the need to download some albums. I spent part of my day today looking to see what I have been missing out on and these are the albums that I got: Ryan Leslie’s self-titled album, In a Perfect World by Keri Hilson, Love vs. Money by The-Dream, In My Radio by Musiq Soulchild, It’s Not Me, It’s You by Lily Allen, and All I Ever Wanted by Kelly Clarkson. I’m glad I have some new tunes to listen to this week. I’ll keep you updated on which albums I love, hate, and recommend you getting.

Get On Da Floor + Luam

by Trish: As promised, I am uploading a new video by my favorite choreographer, Luam. This past Thursday, Luam was seen on Making the Band and people have been searching to figure out who she is. If you have never heard of her, her dance moves speak for themselves. She is always displaying the sickest choreography with a blazing track to parallel her routine. This particular track, Get On Da Floor, performed by Trish is definitely a club banger. You hear the track and automatically want to get up and dance as the song demands. I have not heard any additional songs by Trish, but the word on the street is that she is extremely talented and we should be on the lookout for more of her work. Until I hear her next single, I’ll be jammin to Get On Da Floor and my video:

So Good & Imma Put It On Her

I LOVE THURSDAYS! All of my shows have ended for the season and Making the Band is the only show left! In anticipation for the show, I only listened to two songs today at work and they were both by Day 26. S-O-G-double-O-D is that jam and I figured Willie must have won the battle with Que to record more slow jams. However, So Good is not the first single. Imma Put It On Her is the first single and it appears that Que may have won the battle to record a few fast tracks. When I first heard Imma Put It On Her as the new intro to MTB, I was not really feeling the track. But now, I realize that I was so wrong! The track is hot! I definitely prefer the original version, as Jeezy and Diddy did not have to get on the track to make me like it. Actually, their remix version is horrible! I’m sure you will agree.
Oh, and did you watch tonight’s episode of MTB? If you watched and saw Dawn and Que walking with someone after Que found out his mom was coming to visit, that’s LUAM!!! You know…the choreographer whose videos I feature on 6iv because I believe she is the best dancer out there! **A new video from Luam will be posted tomorrow** I assume Que is taking dance lessons from her. Good move Que. Right now I can only wish I can take lessons from her…One day I will.

Interview with Russell Simmons

I am here to confirm that I have one of the best jobs in the world. I absolutely love what I do! For those of you who do not know, I am a social media strategist and I specialize in blogger outreach and producing content. This Monday I had the pleasure of attending the SCAD Style Etoile Awards Gala to see five fashion luminaries be honored in New York city. My team was on site to execute behind the scenes interviews and live stream the awards in addition to inviting bloggers to cover the event. Honorees included hip hop mogul and designer Russell Simmons, Tony Award-winning Broadway costume designer William Ivey Long, Pulitzer Prize-winning fashion editor Robin Givhan, actress and philanthropist Cornelia Guest, and New York City Planning Director Amanda Burden.

As a musicfan, you can assume that I almost passed out when Russell Simmons came in to be interviewed. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity! This time last year I was finishing my senior year in college, and currently one year later I’m live streaming an event that featured Russell Simmons. I think I’m doing pretty good if you ask me! I uploaded the video of Russell’s interview on YouTube and I wanted to feature the original video on my blog, but the file is too big :( In the interview, Russell shares his thoughts on the cultivation of creativity as the most important thing in the education process. Also, I think it’s pretty cool that Uncle Russ was extremely interested in what Sherri and I were doing in the room as Sherri was filming the interview on the Flip cam and I was manning the chat room while Twittering.

Russell: I think you need to get on Twitter! Julie’s on Twitter, but I know you could be a leader in the space! If Diddy has almost 275k followers, I KNOW you can have double that! Hit me up at erica.hartfield@gmail.com if you need some assistance in setting up your account!

For everyone else: enjoy the video!

You’re Not Sorry

by Taylor Swift: I usually miss CSI when it premiers, but end up catching it On Demand. Today, I watched a recent episode that guest starred Taylor Swift. I heard this song and I really liked it. I automatically assumed it was Taylor, but being that I don’t have any of her albums I was not too sure. Today was one of those days I am thankful that I have an iPhone. I have an app called Shazam that listens to a song through the speaker of my phone and picks up the sound to inform me of the song that is played. Bomb, right? The result told me the song was You’re Not Sorry by Taylor Swift off her album Fearless. I thought I’d share this song with you because I feel that Taylor is an extremely talented artist to not be quite 20 years of age. I love her sound. Although she is a country/pop singer, she has a similar sound as the pop/punk singer Avril Lavigne…hmmm I wondered what happened to Avril?…Anywayz, I’m excited to get Fearless as I need some new tunes to listen to :)
